Alphonse Karr Bamboo: This dense Chinese variety (Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’) grows to an average of 20 feet with 1- inch diameter culms and is one of the best screen or hedge bamboos. Its striking yellow culms and random dark green stripes provide a golden glow in the landscape. Alphonse Karr Bamboo has low water requirements. Once established, it can tolerate cold weather as low as 15°F to 18°F.

Golden Goddess Bamboo: This well-behaved bamboo is one of the smaller varieties, reaching only about 10 feet in height. It features delicate dark green leaves and densely packed ¼” diameter canes that turn golden with age and sun exposure and makes an impressive living hedge, screen or dramatic entryway statement for any property. Bambusa multiplex ‘Golden Goddess’ fills in quickly, creating a beautiful hedge in about six months and a privacy wall within a year. It is very cold hardy down to 15°F to 18°F and extremely drought tolerant once established.

Seabreeze Bamboo: Native to Southern China, Seabreeze Bamboo (Bambusa malingensis) is a Palmco customer favorite. It can quickly reach heights of up to 40 feet to form a beautiful screen or windbreak, but can also be trimmed to stay at the height you want. When mature, Seabreeze Bamboo forms a graceful umbrella-shaped arch and makes those recognizable creaking “bamboo sounds” in the breeze. It is salt-tolerant, drought-tolerant, and can withstand temperatures down to 20°F.
