We offer a variety of Melbourne bamboo wholesale plants that will beautify your residential or commercial landscaping project.

There are more than 1,500 different species in the world, native to every continent but Europe.

Many clumping bamboo varieties, the only ones we grow, have become available in the U.S. during the past decade.

As a new, exotic tropical element, bamboo has grown in popularity for landscaping.

Architects are designing with it. Landscapers are planting it. Homeowners are asking for it.

But, what are the best ways to use it?

Privacy and Architectural Screens:

With more people and smaller living spaces, we value privacy more and more.

There are many non-invasive clumping bamboos that are ideal for privacy screening, and this is bamboo’s most common use in the U.S. It’s relatively inexpensive, fast-growing, forms a dense thicket of material, grows from mid-size (6 to 20 feet) to large-size (21 to 30 feet) to giant (over 30 feet) heights, and can be used as a barrier in just about any setting.

Bamboo also makes an attractive screen for utility boxes, air conditioners, and other building components. It may take 5 to 10 years for bamboos to reach their maximum height and some grow more upright than others, so it’s important to choose a variety that meets your requirements.

Hedges:

If you’re looking for a more formal landscape, most tall clumping bamboos can be pruned and shaped a couple of times per year to maintain the form you want. Fortunately, if you decide you want a taller hedge, it usually won’t take more than one growing season to achieve it.

Noise and Dust Barriers:

Bamboo is ideal for keeping noise and dust away due to its dense growth habits, and is equally useful in urban and rural environments. Noisy traffic, noisy neighbors, highway noise, dust from nearby farms and other nuisances can all be abated with a bamboo barrier.

Windbreaks: If your property is exposed to high winds and frequent storms, bamboo will grow quickly to provide protection. Unlike trees that blow down in strong winds, bamboo weathers storms nicely.

Bamboo is also lightweight and hollow. If canes snap, it’s unlikely that they would do as much damage as downed trees.

There are many non-invasive bamboos that make effective windbreaks.

Specimens and Specimen Groves:

Add tropical beauty to any landscape with a beautiful bamboo. They are very attractive on patios and around pools and look spectacular when combined with palm trees and other tropicals. Clumping bamboos can also be planted to form groves and to fill in blank spots in a landscape to create visual impact.
