Mast Trees Miami-Dade County, Florida – Wholesale

Mast Trees Miami-Dade County, Florida - Wholesale

Mast Trees are quickly becoming the screening material of choice for landscape contractors, architects and designers in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Palmco can supply you with the healthiest wholesale specimens.

If you love the look of tall, narrow, columnar Italian Cypress trees but have trouble growing them in South Florida, you will love the striking Mast Tree. Its unusual, compact form and lush foliage make it an excellent choice for color and, when closely spaced, for screening.

The Mast Tree (Polyalthia longifolia ‘Pendula’) originated in the lowland rainforests of India and Sri Lanka and is also known as False Ashoka, Asoka, Buddha Tree, Indian Mast Tree, and Indian Fir Tree.

Layers of feathery, wavy-edged leaves hang from its drooping branches, closely hugging the straight, thin trunk. Leaf colors range from coppery brown when new, to light lime green, to a shiny dark green as they mature, creating an eye-catching focal point in your Zone 10B Miami, Coral Gables, Homestead, Hialeah, Doral or Key Biscayne landscape.

The Mast Tree’s slender, columnar shape makes it ideal for screening. Use a group of them to line an avenue or driveway, as tall living hedges, as architectural accents, and as privacy, noise and wind screens.

Mast Trees have a moderate growth rate and do exceptionally well in confined areas, reaching heights from 30 to 45 feet and widths of 4 to 5 feet. They can be left in their natural form or trimmed to maintain a specific size or shape.

They are easy to maintain, have very little leaf drop, no notable pest threats, are drought-tolerant, moderately salt-tolerant, prefer well-drained rich clay, loam or sandy soils, and will thrive in full sun and tolerate partial shade.
