Mast Trees Englewood, Florida – Wholesale
When you need tall, columnar, eye-catching evergreen trees for a landscaping project in and around Englewood, Florida, consider wholesale Mast Trees from Palmco.
Englewood, a waterfront community on the Gulf Coast that is split between Sarasota and Charlotte counties, is located in USDA Hardiness Zone 10a. The city and its barrier islands, such as Manasota Key, are an ideal planting zone for the unusual symmetrical Polyalthia longifolia ‘Pendula.’
About the Mast Tree
The Mast Tree originated in the lowland rainforests of India and Sri Lanka and is also known as False Ashoka, Asoka, Buddha Tree, Indian Mast Tree, and Indian Fir Tree.
These evergreen beauties are covered from top to bottom with graceful, shiny pendulous leaves. The lush foliage ranges from light lime green to coppery brown to a glossy dark green as the trees age. Leaves remain on the tree in all seasons, almost completely covering the trunk and creating a colorful focal point.
Once a year in the spring, Mast Trees bloom with fragrant star-like pale green flowers that last for two to three weeks and attract bees, birds and butterflies. The flowers are followed by clusters of fruit that start out green but ripen to purple or black.
Mast Trees grow in a symmetrical column to 30 to 45 feet tall and about 4 to 5 feet wide. They prefer well-drained soil, will grow in full sun or partial shade, and are moderately salt-tolerant and drought-tolerant when mature. They have very little leaf drop, no notable pest issues, and require little to no maintenance.
Young plants need protection from winds, but, once mature, the trees are remarkably flexible and will bend like bamboos in a storm.
Landscaping with Mast Trees
Mast Trees have become popular with landscape architects and designers for framing entryways, covering vertical drain-pipes, softening corners and vertical edges, and as elegant property dividers.
- Mast Trees make excellent architectural accents. Set them against tall buildings to soften their look. Plant one on either side of a gate or entrance. Place them directly in the ground or plant them in large containers.
- They are a beautiful vertical accent for privacy screening, shade and windbreaks, and are ideal for narrow spaces. Line avenues, driveways, pathways or patios with them to highlight entrances and linear landscape features.
- Use Mast Trees to create a natural privacy fence. They are a far more attractive barrier than a wood fence and don’t take up much more space, growing to about 4 to 5 feet wide when mature.
- If you are landscaping property adjacent to highways, intersections or commercial businesses, Mast Trees can serve as an effective barrier to noise pollution while preserving the aesthetics of the property.
