Bamboo Installation Applications
In landscaping, bamboo has a variety of applications. One of the things many people love about clumping bamboo is that it can act as effective screening. It is great for privacy because of its density and height.
When used as screening, rows of plants are aligned so that a division is made—either internal to your property or on your property line. This has a privacy-creating effect, but it is also quite attractive, not entirely unlike rows of small, dense, beautifully colored trees.
Easy to maintain and non-invasive, clumping bamboo is also great as a centerpiece (or in any number of other aesthetic applications). When one plant is used in isolation, it is a wonderful focal point around which other plants can be arranged.
Whether you are using clumping bamboo for a practical purpose or an aesthetic one, these beautiful and easy-to-care-for plants are a great addition to your clients’ properties. They are truly a landscaper’s dream.
Consider one of these versatile, manageable, and stunning clumping bamboos for your next project:
Golden Goddess Bamboo- This bamboo is so easy to work with that it is often referred to as “well-mannered.” It’s one of the smaller clumping bamboo varieties, reaching only about 10 to 12 feet in height, which makes it a popular choice for shorter hedges and for containers. This semi-dwarf bamboo also creates a beautiful privacy hedge when planted four to eight feet apart. This plant is routinely chosen for both its beauty and ease of maintenance.
Asian Lemon Bamboo- Asian Lemon can reach heights up to 25 feet tall. This bamboo is another great example of a good choice for privacy screening. The new culms, or shoots, have pink and peach tones with green stripes. When established, the culms are lemon yellow with green stripes, and it has deep, dark green leaves. Asian Lemon would be a great addition to any garden or home.
Timor Black Bamboo- This bamboo hails from Timor Leste, has no lower branches and can reach heights of 40 feet. The culms are nicely spaced and typically 3 inches in diameter. The mature culms are smooth, shiny, chocolate black and green striped. It is absolutely the best black bamboo for landscaping to date. You won’t find a more striking bamboo specimen.
