Wholesale Bamboo Florida

Palmco offers quality bamboo at some of the best wholesale rates on the Florida market. Using clumping bamboo for privacy is as easy as planting it in the ground and letting it grow. When planted in the correct place, it creates a natural privacy barrier. It forms a screen because of the way it naturally clumps to form thickets. Clumping bamboo is great for privacy, blocking wind, blocking sound, and is also quite striking.

Choosing the Right Bamboo

Wholesale Bamboo FloridaBear in mind that Palmco only sells non-invasive clumping bamboo. We understand that running bamboo has given the plants a bad name, so we ensure our customers that the clumping bamboo you purchase from us will be easy to maintain and will stay where you plant it.

Here are some of our favorite options for privacy fence:

Asian Lemon (Bambusa eutuldoides ‘Viridivittata’).  Hailing from Southern China, this bamboo variety will reach heights of 25 feet. It is a great choice for privacy screening and is quite beautiful. The new shoots have a pink and peach tone with green stripes. But when the plant reaches the height of maturity, the culms become a bright lemon yellow and maintain the green stripes.

Alphonse Karr (Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’). This bamboo is capable of withstanding temperatures as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Its bright green leaves are bluish on the bottom, and its golden culms make it a gorgeous addition to any yard. It is one of the most commonly used and cultivated bamboos for the purpose of hedging and screening applications.

Seabreeze (Bambusa malingensis). If you are looking to cover a second story structure, Seabreeze is a great option because it can reach 40 feet in height. It is tolerant of high winds and cold temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Seabreeze is hardy and bushy and has blue-white canes that are quite attractive.

Once your landscape architect plants bamboo on your landscape, there is almost nothing you need to do for the plant to grow. Commercial developers and landscape architects love to include bamboo in their landscaping projects because it is low maintenance. However, it is essential not to plant tall bamboo varieties near power lines. Tall bamboo species can grow tall quickly and shut out power in entire neighborhoods by getting in between power lines and causing them to contact.

Advice for Planting

Now that you have some ideas about the bamboo plants that will work best for your privacy fence installations, we would like to provide you with some important advice about planting bamboo.

Unlike many other plants, bamboo root balls should not be torn apart. Because bamboo rhizomes and roots only grow during specific times of the year, they won’t heal like other plant roots. We suggest you plant during the spring and fall to ensure the best health and growth.

Finally, when it comes to maintaining your clients’ bamboo privacy fence, we advise trimming off dead or unhealthy looking sections during the summer months. Culms usually only live for five to seven years. They should be removed when they start showing signs of deterioration.

Once you order your bamboo, we will wrap it carefully to prevent root disturbance and transport it in customized vehicles to your destination. We only offer clumping bamboo species because of their beautiful features, low maintenance, and aesthetic privacy screens. We have bamboo species that can thrive in almost any location, from the rainforests to semi-desert.
