A King Alexander Education
As an architect or landscape designer, you might be new to palm tree installations, or at the very least, you might not know a lot about the King Alexander palm. If a client has specifically requested this palm, you can be certain that he/she understands how stately and “royal” this palm can really be when planted properly and in the right locale.
King Alexander palms are actually named after a princess from Denmark, which is rather interesting since they are native to Australian coastal rainforests. In their native country, they are often found in swampy lowlands but can just as readily be discovered at altitudes of nearly 2000 feet.
It is obvious that this “King” won’t be confined to one space, which will become apparent because the King Alexander palm is planted throughout southern California and Florida. It is cold hardy at temperatures as low as 26 degrees Fahrenheit. You would think that would suggest it could be planted somewhere farther north. Unfortunately, cold winds cause leaf tip burns on these majestic palms, so they have to be protected from drying, cold winds wherever they are installed.
These trees prefer full sunlight and lots of water but must be planted in well-draining soil. And, it is important to provide them with a consistent schedule of fertilization. Beyond that, they are fairly easy to maintain as they are self-cleaning. All you have to do is pick up the dead fronds once they fall.
King Alexander palm fronds are feathery and grow to about 7 feet in length. The trunks generally grow in single formations, but at Palmco we sell single, double, and triple configurations. We are certain that your clients will appreciate the presence of these tall, handsome, and graceful palms as centerpieces or in clusters within their landscapes and yards.
Locating King Alexander palm trees for sale is as easy as contacting the experts at Palmco. You can call us at 239.283.1329 to ask about our inventory and wholesale pricing. We look forward to providing you with gorgeous palms and bamboos to meet all your installation needs.
