Clumping Bamboo for Sale
Look no further to find clumping bamboo for sale. Palmco is a premiere provider of palm and bamboo plants. In fact, we have one of the largest palm and bamboo plantations in North America with over 600 acres on beautiful Pine Island in Florida.
Bamboo is a gorgeous ornamental that can add year-round evergreen appeal and unique texture to any commercial or residential landscaping project.
Palmco provides wholesale customers with 15 different varieties of clumping bamboo. These include Oldhamii, the variety with the largest diameter culms (3” to 4”), and Seabreeze, the most prolific species.
Unlike running bamboo, which is best known for its ability to quickly take over any landscape where it is planted, clumping bamboo won’t escape from pots and doesn’t need to be contained in any way once planted in the ground. They naturally grow from their center, upwards and then outward in a circle. Their slow spread rate creates a fairly tight and contained circle.
When given the right environment and optimal growing conditions, you can expect your clumping bamboo to grow quickly and reach maximum heights in as little as 4 years. In fact, species like Oldhamii can grow 2 to 3 feet daily during the summer season!
Here are some clumping bamboos we recommend:
Alphonse Karr (Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’)- With its striking yellow culms and their random green stripes, the Alphonse Karr is one of the best clumping bamboos for hedges and screens. The coloration of the culms provides garden locales with a golden glow, and new shoots are often pink. It’s extremely cold hardy once established and has low water requirements.
Asian Lemon (Bambusa eutuldoides ‘Viridivittata’)- Have a client looking for eye popping color? Asian Lemon is a great option. It’s a stunning specimen with new shoots featuring peach and pink tones while established canes are a lemon yellow, all with green stripes. This is a frost-tolerant bamboo capable of enduring weather as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s small size and bold colors are causing it to gain popularity with businesses and homeowners.
Emerald (Bambusa mutabilis)- Emerald makes a great specimen or screening choice in any landscaping project. It is a cold-hardy variety that can tolerate temperatures that dip down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Originally from China, the light green culms with their somewhat persistent white blooms located on the long internodes will be eye catchers in any setting.
Timor Black (Bambusa lako)- From the island of Timor in Indonesia, Timor Black has a striking appearance. Mature plants exhibit shiny purple/black culms with thin green stripes. The medium bright green leaves only grow on the upper half of the plant making it an excellent choice whenever height is needed, especially since it can grow to be 30 feet tall.
