Wholesale Lucky Bamboo Plants

Wholesale Lucky Bamboo Plants

The ornamental plants that are marketed as "lucky bamboo" are not bamboo at all, but belong to the lily family.

If you’re looking for authentic wholesale clumping bamboo to beautify your landscape, you will find 14 stunning varieties at Palmco in Bokeelia on Pine Island, Florida.

Palmco specializes in non-invasive clumping bamboos that are well-suited to the Florida climate and are some of the most impressive bamboos in the world. Many of our plants can be used as focal points while others can be used to create privacy screens, hedges and windbreaks within commercial and residential landscapes.

About Lucky Bamboo

According to Wikipedia, lucky bamboo is a species known as Dracaena braunii or Dracaena sanderiana.

Its common names include Sander's dracaena, ribbon dracaena, lucky bamboo, curly bamboo, Chinese water bamboo, friendship bamboo, Goddess of Mercy plant, Belgian evergreen, and ribbon plant. Although the word “bamboo” appears in some of these common names, this plant is not a bamboo at all.

Dracaena braunii is native to Cameroon and grows in the tropical rainforests of Africa and Southeast Asia. It has become very popular as an indoor plant because “lucky bamboo” is said to bring happiness and prosperity, and intertwines Western new age culture with Eastern spiritualism, in particular Feng Shui.

Serene LandscapingWith Clumping Bamboo

Clumping bamboo is lush and magical in a way that other plants are not.

Their culms sway in the breeze, create dancing shadows, and their rustling and creaking sounds suggest paradise and serenity. It spreads out only a few inches a year until it reaches a maximum width and doesn’t need a barrier to keep it under control.?

Several clumping bamboo species we highly recommend:

Angel Mist Bamboo – Also called Ghost Bamboo, this is one of our rarest Chinese clumping bamboos. Although it can reach 35 feet, it’s actually one of the smallest of the Dendrocalamus species. It has 3-inch diameter pale lime green culms with dark green stripes and a waxy powdery coating that gives it a mystical look.

Angel Mist Bamboo makes an eye-catching ornamental centerpiece, privacy screen or driveway planting.

Golden Goddess Bamboo – If you want a beautiful container plant for the patio or poolside that can substitute for “lucky” bamboo, Golden Goddess may be the perfect solution.

It grows to about 10 feet tall with delicate leaves and densely packed ¼” diameter canes that turn golden with age and sun exposure. This is a semi-dwarf bamboo. It is very hardy down to 15°F to 18°F.

Nana Bamboo – This variety, sometime called Thai Beauty Bamboo or Silk Bamboo, is the most beautiful erect hedging and screening bamboo in the world. It has soft, small, fern-like leaves, an upright growth habit and thick culms. Naturally branchless near the ground, it grows to a medium height of about 25 feet and arches at the top, creating a feathery, delicate umbrella-like canopy.

Rare and difficult to propagate, you won’t find this majestic bamboo everywhere.

Seabreeze Bamboo –For those unmistakable musical “bamboo sounds,” try Seabreeze, a Palmco customer favorite. Native to Southern China, it’s one of the most prolific species of clumping bamboo, quickly reaching heights of 35 to 40 feet to form a beautiful screen.

The 2 ½” diameter canes have a distinctive bluish-white blush in each section. When mature, it forms a graceful umbrella-shaped arch and is ideal for hedges and windbreaks.

To create a low-maintenance landscape filled with visual beauty and natural noise, incorporate clumping bamboo with drought-resistant palm trees and water-conserving perennials like bearded iris and rosemary.

Include structural enhancements, such as arbors and trellises, and water features, such as fountains, ponds and waterfalls. Shape the bamboo into living hedges for the ultimate in privacy.
